On Tuesday, June 9th, at 7:00pm the Community Church of Boston (565 Boylston Street – Copley Square) is hosting a screening of Cruel and Unusual. This film follows the lives of transgender people incarcerated in the United States prison/jail system. This film looks at the realities of sexual violence, systemic abuse, and violent trans-phobia. There are 2.4 million people incarcerated in the U.S. Please use this day during Pride Week to educate yourself about part of the queer/trans community so often hidden from view.

After the screening we will discuss ways individuals and communities can plug in to work being done on a local level to support trans and queer people behind bars in Massachusetts.

All are welcome, the screening is free!

This event is co-sponsored by the Mass. Transgender Political Coalition, Mass. Transgender Legal Advocates, TransCEND, BAGLY, the Network/La Red, and Healing Our Land.
