This is such a great song. I just want to point out my sadness though about the racism in the song against Jewish people: “Jew me, sue me, everybody do me/ kick me, Kike me”
As a poor queer Jewish woman whose family has been poor for generations, it saddens me how people think Jews are all rich or middle class when white Jewish poverty in the States is higher than white non-Jewish poverty, and brown and black Jews have even higher rates of poverty but people tend to think none of us exist.
Hopefully we can see how oppressions are interconnected and not depend on one form of bigotry and oppression to combat another form.
He built his song as a discussion of racial stereotypes. He also speaks about the stereotype of black males in prisons (“black man, black male, throw your brother in jail”). I can understand how you would be sad if you read those lines as perpetuating a stereotype of your self-identified group, but he himself was born a black male and, if you read the song from your perspective, completely admonishes the identity of his ancestors and immediate family
